| WaveFinder measures
and displays all the essential parameters of sea wave such as significant
wave height, periods and direction using X-band radar. WaveFinder allows
to obtain the directional wave spectrum and surface current information
in real time by analyzing radar images from the sea surface, received
in the near range of the radar. From this wave spectrum all important
sea state parameters are derived.
WaveFinder can operate from a moored platform, any land based station
or from a moving vessel. Real-time information about the sea state, such
as wave height, direction and period, is crucial for coastal protection,
as well as for offshore operations.
* A minimum wind speed of 3 m/s is required for wave measurements with
WaveFinder system.
** The heavy rain, fog or too low wind speed can make it impossible to
measure wave by X-band radar.
*** The numbers depend on the radar hardware, the total time of measurement
and therefore can vary for each individual installation. |
